Faculty member receives special honor at Staff and Faculty Awards ceremony
David Emerson was recently recognized for 30 years of service as a deeply valued professor, mentor and colleague in the St. Catherine University's Department of Business Administration and the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership program.
“In honor of David’s years of dedication to his students and to St. Catherine University, I am very pleased to announce the David E. Emerson Achievement Award,” said Sister Andrea J. Lee, IHM, president of the University.
“This award was established by David's wife Sara, daughters Nancy and Cheryl, and numerous colleagues, friends, family and former students in recognition of David's lifetime accomplishments,” said Sister Andrea.
The annual scholarship will recognize and provide financial support to a business administration student who has demonstrated commitment, fortitude and determination in her studies.
Marjorie Mathison Hance, vice president for external relations and former chairperson of the business administration department, said, “David focused on teaching students the meaning of life, not only in a financial sense, but also on a truly personal level. His deep commitment to students was always evident.”
Colleagues credit him with developing the professional image of the department and for being a mentor and advocate to both faculty and students.
Emerson was among a number of faculty and staff recognized for their length of service at the May 14 Staff and Faculty Awards Ceremony.
