Two exhibitions open Feb. 5 in University gallery

ylaArtist Patricia Olson, the St. Catherine University's Sister Mona Riley Endowed Professor in the Humanities, unveils portraits of University community members in "The Catherine Portrait." The Catherine G. Murphy Gallery exhibition opens Feb. 5 and will be on view through April 3.

Featuring 40, 16" x 16" paintings, "The Catherine Portrait" has been Olson's focus for the past three years as she "investigated ways for individuals and institutions to be in relationship."

"The World Behind The World: A mid-career survey," features paintings selected by independent curator David Wells from the past 20 years of Carol Lee Chase's professional life. Chase is a professor of studio art at St. Kate's.

A reception with the artists is Saturday, Feb. 5, 6-8 p.m. An artist talk with Olson will be Tuesday, Feb. 22 at noon and Chase will discuss her work Tuesday, March 15 at noon. All events are free and open to the public

The Catherine G. Murphy Gallery is located in the Visual Arts Building on the University's St. Paul campus, 2004 Randolph Ave., St. Paul.
