Alumna Named President-Elect for Special Libraries Association

At the Special Libraries Association (SLA) Board of Directors elections late last month, Jill Strand MLIS ’02 was named the 2014 President-Elect. Strand will begin her duties on January 1, 2014.

Strand has been actively involved in SLA since joining the SLA Student Group at St. Catherine University. Later, she served in several roles with the Minnesota Chapter. At the Association level, Strand has served on the Public Relations Advisory Council, the 2011 Annual Conference Advisory Council, as well as the Nominating Committee. She recently chaired the 2013 Annual Conference Advisory Council.

In addition to her involvement with SLA, Strand has also been a member and active participant in the Minnesota Association of Law Libraries (MALL).

Strand currently serves as director of the Knowledge Management Library at Maslon Edelman Borman Brand, LLP in Minneapolis, Minn. She and her staff deliver knowledge resources and services to help the firm’s attorneys and staff excel at the practice of law as well as the business of law.

A 2002 graduate of the MLIS program at St. Catherine University, Strand earned a BA in Journalism from the Honors Tutorial College at Ohio University, and a certificate from the Publishing Institute at the University of Denver.
