St. Catherine University’s School of Business and Leadership and Ameriprise Financial, Inc. (NYSE: AMP) are collaborating to present findings from a recent study on generational financial needs and attitudes at “A Family Matter: Financial Needs and Attitudes Across Generations,” Tuesday, August 14, 3-5:30 p.m.

More than half (55 percent) of baby boomers admit they’ve allowed their adult children to move home and live rent free — but the support most boomers are providing their kids and aging parents extends well beyond room and board, according to findings from the Money Across Generations IISM study, commissioned by Ameriprise. In fact, many boomers are actually prioritizing their families’ needs over their own, despite increased uncertainty about their own financial security.

Suzanna de Baca, vice president of wealth strategies at Ameriprise, will lead the discussion at Coeur de Catherine on the St. Paul campus. A financial and wealth management industry veteran, de Baca has provided financial and investment advice and services to individuals and families for more than 17 years.

She is a frequent contributor to TIME.com and the Huffington Post, and has been quoted in numerous media outlets including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, US News & World Report, CNN Money and Mainstreet.com. She earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from Iowa State University.

Suzy Welch to share strategies

Best-selling author Suzy Welch will discuss how to use values-based decision-making to initiate family conversations around money. Her book, 10-10-10: A Life Transforming Idea, presents a powerful decision-making strategy for success at work and in parenting, love and friendship.

Ameriprise Financial is making available paperback copies of Welch's book to the first 125 registrants. Books will also be available for purchase at the event.

Now published in more than two dozen countries worldwide, Welch's book has been updated and released in paperback. Her candid and incisive views have made her a popular commentator on television programs including The View, Morning Joe, Your World With Neil Cavuto and Power Lunch.

With husband Jack Welch, she co-authored the international bestseller, Winning, and its companion volume, Winning: The Answers.  The Welches have also launched the “Jack Welch Management Institute at Strayer University,” an online MBA and certificate program.
