Event offers insight into financial attitudes across generations

The School of Business and Leadership and the Leadership Institute at St. Catherine University will host "A Family Matter: Financial Needs and Attitudes across Generations" from 3-5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, in the Rauenhorst Ballroom.

The event will center on new research commissioned by Ameriprise Financial that offers an in-depth look at three generations of Americans — baby boomers, their adult children and their aging parents — and reveals how the changing financial needs and attitudes of each generation have altered their relationship with money and with each other.

Two keynote speakers will be featured during the event. Suzy Welch, MBA, a nationally renowned speaker, is the best-selling author of 10-10-10, a popular television commentator and a business journalist. Suzanna de Baca, is vice president of Wealth Strategies at Ameriprise Financial, where she is responsible for overseeing initiatives to serve affluent populations.

Join St. Catherine University to hear key information from the study and to learn how to use values-based decision-making to begin having conversations about money and financial matters with your family. Admission to the event is $40 for the public, $35 for alumnae of St. Catherine University and $30 for students.

Ameriprise Financial, the presenting sponsor for the event, will make paperback copies of Suzy Welch's best-selling book, 10-10-10, available to the first 125 people who register. Books will be available for pick up at the event on Aug. 14.
