The St. Catherine University Women’s Choir presents their local spring concert on Sunday, April 12, at 3 p.m. in Our Lady of Victory Chapel. The event is free and open to the public.

Under the direction of the University’s Department of Music and Theater Chair, Patricia Cahalan Connors, the choir will perform a variety of sacred and secular works from the Renaissance to the present. A centerpiece of the program is Hungarian composer György Orban’s setting of the Latin Mass, composed in 2000. Works by Monteverdi, Mendelssohn, and several Minnesota composers, will also be featured.

The Women’s Choir is the principal collegiate choral ensemble at the University. Choir members represent a variety of academic majors and the choir performs throughout the year, both on and off campus. While exploring every style period, the choir specializes in performing music by contemporary composers, particularly women. By invitation, the Women's Choir has performed for state music conventions, with other college choirs in “WomanVoice” concerts, and on concert tours in the United States and abroad.

The April 12 concert caps off the choir’s Spring Break Tour, with stops through out the Pacific Northwest.
