Elizabeth Ann Beatson O’Shaughnessy Scholarship awarded to St. Cloud senior
Christina Ramsdell, a senior at Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, Minn., has been selected as the 2010 Elizabeth Ann Beatson O’Shaughnessy Scholarship recipient at St. Catherine University.
This award, which covers full tuition and fees, is based on outstanding academic performance, extraordinary artistic or musical talent and excellence in extracurricular accomplishments. The award is given to a senior entering St. Catherine University each year.
Ramsdell maintained a 3.95 GPA while taking a rigorous course load, including Advanced Placement classes in American Literature and Psychology.
In addition to her academic achievements, she is involved in many extracurricular activities at Cathedral High School. She competes on the track and field and soccer teams, as well as performing in the high school band, choir and theater. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, Students Against Destructive Decisions and the sportsmen’s club.
Ramsdell demonstrated her strong leadership ability when she took a large role in organizing a respect retreat for her entire graduating class last year.
Highly admired by her peers and teachers, Ramsdell was praised by one teacher as “…in the top 5 percent of all the students I have taught in my 29 years of teaching."
The Elizabeth Ann Beatson O’Shaughnessy Scholarship was established thanks to a generous gift by Lawrence O’Shaughnessy in honor of his wife, Elizabeth Ann, a St. Kate’s alumna.
