Student awarded scholarship for library science

Deni Buendorf ‘10, a student in the library science program at St. Kate’s, has been chosen as one of eight students who will receive a merit-based scholarship amounting to $2,500 from Coughlan Companies, Inc.

Coughlan Companies, the Minnesota-based holding company for Capstone Press and Mankato Kasota Stone, awards the Capstone Community Scholarship to undergraduate and graduate students studying pre-school education, elementary education, library science or other subjects relating to English, literature and design. To be eligible for the award, undergraduate students must be enrolled full-time as a junior or senior, and they must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

The community-based scholarship program is aligned with Coughlan Companies’ giving philosophy which champions training educators in library science, reading instruction and other relevant programs to support children’s literacy for grades K-8.
