Wildcat athletics, WSAAC celebrate Division III Week April 8-14

The St. Catherine University athletics department and Wildcat Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (WSAAC) will celebrate the second-annual NCAA Division III Week through promotion of athletic events and social media interaction from April 8-14.
Division III Week is an opportunity for member institutions to observe and celebrate the impact of athletics and student-athletes on the campus and local community, as student-athletes engage in activities focusing on academic accomplishments, athletic experience, leadership and campus involvement.
For WSAAC members, Division III Week provides the means to reflect on their experience as a student-athlete and what it means to be a Division III student-athlete.
“Being a Division III student-athlete is really about being a well-rounded person,” said senior softball player Shae Elliott (Richfield, Minn.). “We have a lot of leadership training. We like to get out in the community while still maintaining grades and being an involved student and playing the sport that we love.”
Kristina Poss (Shoreview, Minn.) – a three-sport athlete and WSAAC member – said being a Division III student-athlete has not only allowed her to run competitively and pursue a great education, but it has also taught her important lessons that she will be able to take with her upon completing her collegiate career.
“Two of the values I have particularly strengthened (from being a student-athlete) are challenging myself and believing in myself,” said Poss.
“It's about having the dedication and hard work to go out every day and be confident and do what you need to do. Being able to tackle goals and hard work with confidence and dedication is indispensible in any area of life.”
Wildcat student-athletes have invited St. Catherine faculty members to the games and plan to acknowledge members of the St. Catherine community for continuous support of student-athletes in athletic, academic and co-curricular endeavors.

Student-athletes, fans, faculty and staff are also encouraged to interact with Wildcat athletics on social media. Fans will be able to interact with questions and polls on the St. Kate's Athletics Facebook page and are encouraged to post photos from Wildcat athletics events throughout the week. Twitter users are encouraged to follow @SCUathletics and @NCAADIII and join the conversation about Division III athletics using the hashtag #d3week and sharing Division III stories with #whyd3.

St. Catherine University athletics also runs the Wildcat Athletics YouTube channel.
