Alumna and local banker delivers Commencement address

Catherine “Kate” Kelly, president and CEO of Minnesota Bank & Trust, will give St. Catherine University’s Commencement address on December 22 at 7:30 p.m.

The St. Cloud, Minnesota native, graduated with a degree in economics and humanities from St. Catherine in 1983. Her background includes more than 27 years of experience in the banking industry.

Prior to founding Minnesota Bank & Trust in 2008, Kate was a regional president of Bremer Financial. She also worked at U.S. Bank for 18 years; most recently as district manager in corporate banking. Under her leadership, the Edina-based Minnesota Bank & Trust assets have grown to over $200 million, with growth of nearly 30% in 2015.

In 2010, Governor Tim Pawlenty appointed her to the Minnesota Commission on National and Community Service, also known as the ServeMinnesota Commission. She currently is board chair of ServeMinnesota, ServeMinnesota Education Foundation and Reading & Math Inc. Kelly is also a board member and audit committee member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.

Kate has been recognized as Top Woman in Finance by Finance and Commerce and was named an Industry Leader by the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal. She also received the Minnesota Women Achievement Award and most Innovative in Finance over 1M in Revenue from the National Association of Women Business Owners.
