Women of Substance present Joss Stone's 'The Soul Sessions'
The O'Shaughnessy will present Women of Substance: "The Soul Sessions Tour" with Joss Stone at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012.
Stone began pursuing a singing career at age 13, securing a record deal at 15 and recording her star-making debut album, The Soul Sessions, released in 2003. Ten years on from those early sessions, Joss has decided to bring things full circle and revisit where it all began — with her follow up to that multi million-selling debut, "The Soul Sessions, Volume 2," a stunning exercise in vocal poise, passion and power, showcasing great songs and an artist at the peak of her vocal powers.
Stone's second record, 2004’s "Mind Body & Soul" capitalized on commercial momentum and critical adoration from the "The Soul Sessions" and earned Stone three Grammy nominations, including one for Best New Artist. Her third album, 2007’s "Introducing Joss Stone," further showcased her song-writing abilities, and revealed that the singer had been embraced by the American audience when the album debuted on the Billboard Top 100 at Number Two, marking the highest debut ever for a female British solo artist.
With over 11 million album sales to date and a wealth of experience under her belt, Stone decided to return to "The Soul Sessions" from a new perspective on tour.
Tickets for the concert, which is open to all ages, are on sale for $55 or $52 for reserved seating, plus applicable fees. Tickets are available at The O'Shaughnessy Box Office, by phone at 651.690.6700 and online at http://oshaughnessy.stkate.edu. Doors for the concert open at 7 p.m. with the concert beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4.
