A documentary film created by Chia “Chilli” Lor ’14 won the Special Jury Award at the Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities (ACTC) Film Festival.

Her documentary "A Hmong Scar: Translated Bodies of the Hmong Diaspora" was praised by the judges for “its heart-felt commitment to social commentary. It's a film that illustrates a level of social and political reflexivity about historical and contemporary issues facing particular communities in our city."

A Hmong American artist/performer and campus community student leader and activist, Lor is an alumna of the University’s unique First Step college immersion experience that prepares young women of color for higher education.  She will graduate in May 2014.
