Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie made an appearance on the St. Paul campus of St. Kate’s on Nov. 1, as part of Food Week, a week-long event centered on food justice.

Ritchie spoke to members of the St. Kate’s community about “Future Harvests: The Economic and Social Impacts of Food and Farming,” in the Musical Recital Hall at St. Catherine University.

An advocate for sustainable food practices, Ritchie served for 20 years as the president of the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (IATP) working to promote economic and environmental sustainability across the state of Minnesota. He also served as the president of the Organic Buyers and Growers Association and chaired the International Forum on Food and Agriculture — a project of the International Forum on Globalization — and the Board of Sustainable America.

The lecture was sponsored by the School of Business and Leadership and the President’s Climate Commitment at St. Catherine University, as well as the Environmental Issues Task Force and St. Kate’s Food Week.
