Mary Chesney '75 honored for accomplishments in nursing

The American Academy of Nursing selected 168 nurse leaders for induction as fellows during the academy’s conference on October 18, 2014, in Washington, DC. Among the four inductees from the state of Minnesota was St. Catherine University graduate Mary Hipwell Chesney '75, PhD, RN, CNP.

Selection criteria for fellowship include evidence of significant contributions to nursing and health care and sponsorship by two current Academy fellows. Selection is based, in part, on the extent the nominee’s nursing career has influenced health policies and the health and wellbeing of all.

Chesney is the director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing and is president-elect of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. She is also president of the Advanced Practice Registered Nurses Coalition for the state of Minnesota.
