St. Kate’s wins awards for magazine excellence

St. Catherine University’s magazine won a gold, two silvers and a bronze at the 19th annual Minnesota Magazine & Publishing Association’s (MMPA) Excellence Awards held November 12, 2015, in Minneapolis.

Gold for Cover Design: “Birds of a Feather,” October 2014.
Magazine editor Pauline Oo collaborated with freelance designer Dan Woychick on creative content and direction.

Silver for Profile Article: “The Spy Who Loved St. Kate’s,” October 2014.
Written by Sara Berhow, communications specialist in St. Kate’s Office of Marketing and Communications (MarComm).

Silver for Feature Design: “Savvy Social-ites,” February 2015
Designed by Carol Evans-Smith, MarComm art director. The story was co-written by staff writers Pauline Oo and Sharon Rolenc.

Bronze for Feature Design: “Birds of a Feather,” October 2014.
Editor Pauline Oo partnered with designer Dan Woychick on creative concept.

The MMPA Excellence Awards foster outstanding achievements in publishing. Judges hail from all aspects of the publishing industry. MMPA was founded in 1995 to enhance the knowledge and professional performance of magazine publishers in Minnesota.

About St. Kate’s mag

St. Catherine University Magazine, formerly known as SCAN, is published three times a year (October, February and June) by the Office of Marketing and Communications. The print edition of the magazine underwent an in-house redesign — including new name, condensed features and more white space — this summer.
