St. Catherine University invites the Montessori community to A Celebration of Peace on Sunday, February 22, 4:30–8 p.m. The event kicks off Montessori Education Week, February 22–28, which celebrates the 108-year legacy of Maria Montessori.

A Celebration of Peace features keynote speaker Joan Steffend, award-winning journalist and co-founder of the humanitarian organization Peace Begins With Me.

Schedule of events

  • Open House, 4:30–5:30 p.m.
    Advanced Montessori Center, Lower level, Our Lady of Victory Chapel
  • Social Hour, 5–6 p.m.
    3rd floor atrium, Coeur de Catherine
  • Dinner and Keynote Speaker, 6–8 p.m.
    Rauenhorst Ballroom, Coeur de Catherine

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online. Registration deadline is February 13.

About Advanced Montessori at St. Kate’s

St. Catherine University offers a variety of advanced Montessori education opportunities including workshops, a STEM certificate and graduate degrees. Through a unique partnership with the Montessori Center of Minnesota, students can earn a Montessori diploma while obtaining a master of arts in education.

Joan Steffend has nearly thirty years of professional media experience, first as a national Emmy-winning news reporter/anchor at the NBC affiliate in Minneapolis-St. Paul, the as a top rated host on HGTV (Decorating Cents, White House Christmas, Dream Home Specials). She is the co-founder of Peace Begins with Me, a humanitarian nonprofit organization dedicated to education, inspiration and collaboration in the area of inner peace — ultimately with the intention of leading to global peace.
