St. Kate's President shares University's mission far and wide

Speaking engagements for St. Catherine University President Andrea J. Lee, IHM, this month are taking her to England and to an international conference at Bryn Mawr.

Lee was among 18 international education leaders invited to speak at a conference in Liverpool, England, prior to the beatification of Cardinal John Henry Newman on Sept. 16-19.

"The Idea of a University–Revisited" was sponsored by the International Federation of Catholic Universities and Europe’s only ecumenical university, Liverpool Hope University. Both the Liverpool Anglican and Catholic bishops founded, continue to sponsor and are actively engaged in the University.

The event was planned to coincide with the visit of Pope Benedict XVI and the beatification of Cardinal Newman. The International Federation of Catholic Universities will publish conference proceedings. Sister Andrea's remarks will also be available at the Association of Catholic Colleges & Universities website.

Sister Andrea addressed the application of some of Newman’s ideas in Catholic universities within the United States. She shared her thoughts on the events of the weekend withThe Catholic Spirit Editor Joe Towalski.

On Friday, Sister Andrea will travel to Bryn Mawr College for a conference marking the institution's 125th anniversary. See details in this St. Kate's news site story.
