St. Kate's community to remember events of 9-11

The St. Catherine University community will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the tragedy on Sept. 11, 2001 with Campus Ministry interfaith events and in collaboration with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.

In the University's Our Lady of Victory Chapel, a candle will burn in remembrance in front of the statue or St. Joseph for those affected by the events of Sept. 11.  The University community will pray for those impacted by the events of Sept. 11, during the University's Convocation Mass of the Holy Spirit on Sept. 7 and during Sunday mass at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 11.

Also members of the campus community are welcome at Campus Ministry's weekly interfaith prayer service focusing on peace and healing, "Together for 15" — a 15-minute prayer circle. Campus Ministry will dedicate the circle Wednesday, Sept. 14, in memory of the events of Sept. 11, 2001. The prayer circle runs from 12:05-12:20 p.m., in the lower level atrium of the Coeur de Catherine on the University's St. Paul campus.

Members of the community may also join the Sisters of St. Joseph in an expanded 11th Day Prayer Service from 2-4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, in their Provincial Chapel, 1890 Randolph Avenue. The service will include a conversation on “Spirituality in Everyday Life” with Dr. Paul Knitter, a leading advocate of globally responsible interreligious dialogue, and his spouse, Cathy Cornell, a licensed clinical social worker with a private practice in New York City. A $20 donation is encouraged but not required.  For more information, visit the CSJ's Wisdom Ways Ministry website.

Finally, the campus community will pray for peace throughout the world during the International Day of Peace, on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Join the interfaith prayer services during "Together for 15," at 12:05 p.m. or during a prayer session at 4:30 p.m. in Our Lady of Victory Chapel.
