Ophthalmic Technician program director recognized

Aaron V. Shukla, Ph.D., COMT, associate professor and program director of the Ophthalmic Technician Program in the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health, has been chosen as a winner of the Portland Community College Diamond Alumni Awards.

In honor of its 50th anniversary, Portland Community College (PCC) is recognizing 50 outstanding alumni who are shining examples of what it means to be a "PCC Diamond." The alumni will be honored during a reception with Preston Pulliams, the president of Portland Community College, during the evening of March 21, at the Oregon History Museum in Portland, Ore. Honorees will also be recognized in The Oregonian, and featured in area newspapers and/or the college magazine.

Shukla received his B.S. and M.S. from Lucknow University, in Lucknow, India. He also holds an M.A. from Princeton University and a Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. He founded the Ophthalmic Technician program in the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health at St. Catherine University in 2006 and now serves as the program director.
