“Sing for Joy” celebrates Choral Society anniversary

More than 400 neighbors, music enthusiasts and friends of the University turned out at Sing for Joy, a concert to celebrate the St. Catherine Choral Society’s 20th anniversary.

The centerpiece of the concert was the finale of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, the Ode to Joy. “Magnificat” by Baldassare Galuppi and several of Copland’s Old American Songs were also featured.

Led by Director Patricia Cahalan Connors, chair of the Department of Music at St. Kate's, the 75-member choir was joined by soloists Kristie Tigges (soprano and an instructor of music at the University), Angela Keeton (mezzo), Richard Joseph (tenor) and Seth Keeton (bass), along with some of the region’s finest professional orchestral musicians.
