“Spirit of St. Kate’s” video contest attracts more than 20 entries

The "Spirit of St. Kate’s" student video contest attracted 22 entries from a variety of individuals and student groups. St. Kate’s invited students across both University campuses to create a video that expresses the “Spirit of St. Kate’s.”

All entries were required to contain some visual—apparel, logo, signage—of St. Catherine University or the text—“St. Catherine University” or “St. Kate’s.”  Judges will award prizes based on creativity, visual appeal, appropriateness, depiction of the University and use of the University’s logo or text in the entry.

The University’s Division of External Relations launched the “Spirit of St. Kate’s” student video contest in December.  It was a component of “Shout out St. Kate’s Day” Wed., Feb. 29 and entries were unveiled on the Spirit of St. Kate's video contest playlist at the University’s YouTube channel that day.

The University is offering $5,000 in cash prizes. First prize is $3,000, second prize is $2,000 and third prize is $1,000. 

Members of the campus community are urged to “Like” their favorites to earn contestants additional fan favorite prizes. Fans may also comment on the video to cast a vote in one of the fan favorite categories listed below. Fan favorite voting ends Thursday, April 5. The categories include:
• Funniest
• Most heartwarming
• Most creative
• Best use of videography
• Best use of sound
• Best use of the St. Kate's brand or logo

Winners will be announced at 8:30 p.m., on Wednesday, April 11, just before the SKAT film screening in Jeanne d’Arc Auditorium.
