Winter weather news and resources
During severe weather events, St. Catherine University administrators and staff monitor official weather reports and road conditions, including the National Weather Service storm warnings and watches. The safety and security of the campus community are the highest priorities.
Get weather updates
For the most current information; call the Weather Hotline at 651-690-8666 (x 8666 on campus). This is one of the resources updated first. Weather updates are also posted here on the news site and on the official University Facebook page (“like” us now!).
If classes are cancelled or campus is closed, a message will also be sent out on the St. Kate’s Alert System — so sign up now (you will need to log in to KateWay). The Coeur de Catherine monitors will also carry the lastest information.
The college will also notify WCCO-Radio (830 AM) and television stations WCCO (Channel 4), KSTP (Channel 5), FOX9 and KARE-11. But please be advised, there is often a lag time between notification and the message appearing.
On campus services
Because St. Kate's is a residential facility for students, it never fully closes. During a winter weather event, facilities crews will clear snow from sidewalks, roadways and parking lots as quickly as possible. Members of the campus community who park on campus should be aware of the Department of Public Safety's parking policies in the event of a snow emergency (you will be prompted to log in to KateWay).
However, if classes are cancelled due to weather, staff may be unable to report to work at the Health and Wellness Center and Library.
In the event of severe weather, Sodexho will do its best to provide food service to the on-campus community. If Sodexho is unable to fully staff all campus food services, the Dining Halls are the first priority followed by (on the St. Paul campus) the Pulse and the Coeur de Catherine Coffee Shop.
